Are you wanting to host a grand, classy fête in honor of your engagement to your beloved but strapped for cash? Here are our 5 AML money-saving tips on how to throw a big bash without breaking the bank. We used these tips for our Engagement Party that became known to our local community as the “Colorado Celebration Of The Year”. We had well over 100 people attend -with friends and family flying in from all over the country to celebrate. And we managed to host it on a shoe-string budget.
1. Host the engagement party at your home, friends home, or local park.
(We hosted ours at our home, Sierra Dorado Ranch. Doing this saves you money that you would have spent on a venue and takes care of the need for public facilities.)
3. Hire a local food truck, small family-run catering company, or make the food yourself by purchasing in bulk at COSTCO or Sam’s Club.
(Local small companies will give you more bang for your buck and a little DIY in the kitchen goes a long way for your wallet!)
3. Keep boose selections simple.
(We purchased cases of wine and beer from the local liquor store, which significantly cut down on our cost for the need of various hard liquors.)
4. Hire a local band, or put together your own iPod playlist.
(We hired The Red Petals, a local band through a friends’ recommendation. Saved us at least $2,000 by going with this up-and-coming band over a more well-established one. PS- They were FANTASTIC! Reach out to me if you would like their contact information.)
5. Ask for friends to catch candid photos of the day on your camera.
(We asked our friend Mike Weems to capture shots. Additionally, we had a surge of photos fly into our email boxes and on our phones from friends who attended the big day.)
Do you have any additional ideas? We would love to hear what you have done for your Engagement Party!
